The Heart of Our Heritage: Our Gardens
Nestled amidst the misty hills of North Lakhimpur, our tea gardens are a sanctuary where nature’s tranquility and centuries-old tradition intertwine. As the parent company of 1950 Origins, Bengal Tea & Fabrics L.T.D. (BTFL), has excelled in tea cultivation for over 75 years. BTFL manages three prestigious gardens—Ananda, Bordeobam, and Pathalipam—covering 600 hectares. These gardens, nurtured through generations of care, produce exquisite teas under the flagship brand “Ananda,” which stands as a symbol of timeless excellence.

Revitalizing the Garden
We uproot 1-2% of our gardens each year to renew and rejuvenate the bushes. Replanting with our own fresh, healthy plants to ensure that our gardens stay vibrant, resilient and capable of consistently producing the finest tea leaves. This helps us in safeguarding the long-term health and vitality of our plantations.
Roots Of Quality
In our gardens, we grow both tea plants from seeds and genetically identical clones. Our seeds come from our own exclusive seed barie, while our clones are cultivated from cuttings of our finest bushes. All are nurtured in our dedicated nurseries, allowing us to control every stage of plant cultivation, ensuring unmatched quality from the ground up.

Manuring
Regular manuring enriches the soil with vital nutrients, which in turn strengthens the tea plants and boosts the quality of the leaves. By consistently replenishing the soil with organic matter, manuring ensures that the bushes remain productive and sustainable over time.
Commitments And Practices Beyond The Ordinary
Foliar spraying
We practice foliar spraying—targeted nourishment that acts as a supercharge for the leaves and the bushes, providing an immediate boost of vital vitamins and minerals to the plants. This promotes quicker absorption and more efficient nutrient uptake, helping our bushes stay healthy, vibrant, and capable of producing tender, aromatic, and flavorful leaves.

Our Secret To The Art Of Perfection
The secret to producing high-quality tea lies in hand-picking the top "two leaf and a bud." This centuries-old practice ensures the highest standard of tea, preserving its delicate flavor and nuances. The tender bud and new leaves are naturally richer in flavor and aroma, as they contain the highest concentration of the alchemical ingredients that imbue teas with their signature boldness, complexity, and nuanced flavor profiles.
Key Geophysical Factors Driving Excellence
Our tea gardens benefit from an ideal combination of climate and landscape, which imbues Ananda teas with their - unique flavour profiles.

Climate: Hot, humid subtropical weather and consistent rainfall foster vigorous plant growth and exceptional yields.
Soil: Loamy, clay-like soil with excellent drainage and fertility ensures leaves of extraordinary strength and flavor.

Embracing Sustainability
In our ongoing efforts to move towards sustainability, we installed solar panels in 2024. This forward-thinking initiative now supplies 50% of our factory’s power needs with clean, renewable energy, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and paving the way for a greener future.
